About Us

Our mission

RestoreLA-CDC is dedicated to offer academic educational opportunities, affordable housing and financial literacy to families in the greater Los Angeles area.

Our Story

RestoreLA-CDC was founded in 2021 by Marcela and Jose Palos. After observing hard working underserved families struggle to generate wealth and break cycles of poverty, RestoreLA-CDC was creating to programs resources to underserved communities.  Many underserved families struggle living paycheck to paycheck with no real opportunity to accomplish goals such as buying a home, creating college funds for their children, or starting a retirement fund.  In founding their own CDC, families are able to experience financial awakening through literacy programs.

Marcela and Jose are both children of immigrants.  They have witnessed firsthand the obstacles their parents had to overcome to ensure the success they envisioned for their kids.  Hard work, dedication and sacrifice are just a few of the attributes their parents displayed without having any knowledge of the resources that could have potentially given them access to greater opportunities for financial stability.  With compassion, empathy and resolve, Marcela and Jose have founded RestoreLA-CDC to be a catalyst for hope and change for underserved communities in the greater Los Angeles area.

Our Vision

RestoreLA-CDC envisions serving thousands of families through our different programs. First, we are launching our CDC with financial literacy courses. Most families in underserved communities of Los Angeles are barely surviving on their income. We hope to teach families the importance of budgeting, saving, investing, and starting their own business.

Second, RestoreLA-CDC would like to start a dual-immersion early childhood education program and a dual immersion charter school. We see RestoreLA-CDC’s academic presence to be done in excellence. With most of the schools in the West Adams district being under 2s and 3s on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) we envision our programs to be FREE for our communities and offer opportunities for inner city children to have access to top tier education.

Next, RestoreLA-CDC plans to have after school programs in partnership with local schools. These programs will have outlets for children such as dance, music, and art while also offering tutoring and help with homework.

Lastly, the West Adams district has been a target for gentrification. Gentrification is a term used to describe the process whereby the character of a poor urban area is changed by wealthier people moving in, improving housing, and attracting new businesses, typically displacing current inhabitants in the process. Due to this new wave of gentrification our communities, who have lived in these areas for decades are being pushed out and exiled into areas due to cost of living. We hope to be able to obtain multiple buildings where we can offer 100% affordable housing to qualifying families.

We believe RestoreLA-CDC will be a platform for change and see endless partnerships. We hope you can dream, and invest in our mission and vision.
